YOUR PURPOSE IS CALLING

Proverbs 20:5 – The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out. (ESV)

There are usually so many ways God gives us pointers to what we were created for. Some see the clues as an invitation to dig deeper while there are others who just don’t care about finding out. One of the surest ways of finding fulfillment in life is to discover your purpose and pursue it.

Your deepest desires or drives could be another important factor on the journey of discovering your purpose. They are usually persistent, and contribution driven. These desires were planted by the Lord. In our theme verse, the Bible says the purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water but a man of understanding will draw it out. Pay attention to these desires – they must be solution driven.

The Lord conceals our purpose in us and gives us the tools to search it out. Solomon said “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter” (Proverbs 25:2). There are times these desires and drives leave you with a burning question – what do I want to leave as a contribution or legacy to my generation? God created everyone with a unique purpose to serve the general purpose recorded in Genesis – “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:28).

Your purpose matters. You are not only anointed to preach the gospel; you’re anointed to provide a solution to your generation through your purpose. Look deep into yourself, engage the Word and Spirit of God for assistance and give yourself no rest until you find it. Your purpose is calling because there are lives depending on your discovery and mastery of your purpose.

PRAYER

Oh God, the creator of heaven and earth, as I embark on the journey of discovering my purpose to walk in it, may you guide me by your Word and your spirit in the name of Jesus Christ.
