YOU ARE NOT ORDINARY

YOU ARE NOT ORDINARY

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The believer in Christ Jesus is not ordinary – he is a new creature! What exactly does it mean to be in Christ and how can someone get there? The knowledge of our new identity in Christ Jesus is important in our walk of faith,

Our opening verse says any man who is in Christ has become a new creature. You will certainly not look like it – the new creature isn’t talking about your physical appearance but your spirit. When you got born again, you didn’t grow an inch taller or became fairer. The life of God – eternal life was supplanted to your human spirit and you became righteous.

This is why Apostle Peter said “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4). It is time you began to see yourself from the light of the Word of God. Your old nature of sin is gone and you have the new nature of righteousness. Give voice to what happened in your spirit. You are no more ordinary.

The Word of God instructs that you should renew your mind “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2). Renewing your mind through the Word of God is an important aspect of our walk of faith. Your mind didn’t get born again – it retained information from your old nature. Subjecting your mind therefore to the instruction of the Word of God is what begins to align it to your true identity in Christ Jesus. This must be a lifelong process to keep our minds aligned with our new identity in Christ Jesus through the instrument of the Word of God.

CONFESSION

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus born not of corruptible seed but incorruptible by the Word of God that lives and abides forever. I am no longer ordinary. The Lord expresses himself through me. Glory to God.
