PRAY TODAY!

In this very Loveletters publication, I really want to share with us something that is very dear to me which incidentally is easily regarded as a religious exercise yet it is the most powerful adventure any serious Christian should never take lightly.  There are times when I have found myself in a church service shortly after I assumed a position of prayers, tears starts pouring out of my eyes. There have been occasions when my voice even becomes a little louder that it may sound a little disturbing to those around. In all these experiences, one thing is very certain, no one knows where I am coming from and how the mere though of how far the Lord has brought me makes me feel each time I sit, kneel or stand to pray.

The place of prayer and communing with the Lord who is Holy can never be over emphasized, it is a vital part of this God-nature that we have received having been translated into the Kingdom of God’s Love Son. If the Lord Himself will take prayer serious, I do not have any reason not to take it serious. Incase you see me speaking almost like I am whispering or my mouth moving so fast, or even producing deep groaning as if I am in pains, these are no attempts to show how religious I am. It is my way of submitting to the authority of this invincible God who sees everything about me.

At such moments of prayers we pour out our hearts to the Lord, it could be in admiration and appreciation of what He has done for us, it could also be a time when we are interceding for others and asking for the grace and mercy of God be extended to them. Even when the challenges of life become so overwhelming, when it thus look like a hopeless situation with no sign of help in sight, I would still say – Talk to God about it. I will never forget one experience I had once when we were praying together in a group and the love and power of God was so strong that words of prophecies came forth with so much conviction. God was indeed in our midst and had choosing to pour out His Spirit upon us and we were all swallowed up in that cloud of Glory that I wished we had stayed there longer than the time we dismissed and I had to return to my residence.

I want you to consider this scriptures below Hebrews chapter five from the first verse to the tenth verse and she how Our Lord Jesus Christ submitted Himself to prayers with strong crying and tears, despite being a love son yet submitted Himself to learn obedience to endure sufferings;

For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. (Hebrews 5:1-10) KJV.
Here is my word of encouragement to you today that no matter what the situation you are facing is, find time to pray to this loving Father and see for yourself how swift He can come to your rescue and support. One of the things that has helped me even when it would appear that the strength and motivation to pray is very very low, I have learnt that if I can put on a Gospel song and let it play for a while, suddenly there would be a spark to start praying. Therefore as much as I encourage people to download the Bible on their phone, I also encourage you to download some worship songs on your phone or look for platforms like Youtube and find worship songs that will aid you in worship and prayers. Practice doing these things meditate on God’s word, spend time to worship this very God who has always loved us with an everlasting love. There is nothing too difficult to fix if only you can just believe and trust Him to help you as you pray. If The Lord Jesus Himself could spend time praying sometimes for several hours, how about you?  May the Lord answer our prayers this day I pray in Jesus Name. Amen.
