HOW TO HEAR THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

HOW TO HEAR THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (John 10:27)

A lot of people have often wondered what the voice of the Holy Spirit sounds like. Some others have also asked what language exactly does He speak? These questions reveal a desire to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit speaks always. Cable News Networks for example are transmitting 24 hours every day. Your ability to receive the transmitted signal is dependent on whether you have a device with the capability to receive the signals. The day you bought a cable box, connected it to your TV and were able to receive the transmitted signal wasn’t the day that network started transmitting. This is how it is with hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit. If you are born again, you’re already hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit but you might not know it.

Our theme verse was categorical; Jesus said “my sheep hear my voice”. He didn’t say my sheep can hear my voice or my sheep should hear my voice. There was a certainty in His word that His sheep hears His voice. The Holy Spirit is tabernacled in your Spirit and you have become one spirit with Him. “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” (1 Corinthians 6:17). To recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit, you must learn to silence all other voices gaining attention to your life. The voice of your mind, the voice of friends and the voice of the devil.

The more of God’s word you study and meditate on, the more it is easier to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit. When you silence other voices in worship or while you’re praying in the Holy Spirit, His voice becomes distinct and pronounced in your Spirit. His voice is unmistakable because He speaks in agreement with the written Word of God.

PRAYER

Precious Father, thank you for the privilege of hearing and recognizing your voice. Help me Lord to take the corresponding action as your Spirit speaks in agreement with your Word in the name of Jesus.
