One of my favorite scriptures from childhood is found in the Psalms. This particular scripture is very dear to me because it has helped me all through the years to maintain a certain mindset that God’s protection has been there for me long before I joined my parents and subsequently enjoy the love and acceptance of my elderly siblings.
I grew up looking at the hill behind my father’s compound and it is a hill that I climbed severally either as a result of the seasonal farming sessions, or the routine trips to the neighboring village while taking loaves of bread to the customers who reside on top of the hill. For me everything I heard in the Bible, I believed it was true even though I would find a way to personalize it and relate to it in my own way. There has to be something in our humble community that I would use as placeholder to remind myself what is in the Bible. Here is that scripture, book of Psalms 125 verses 1 and 2:
1.They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
During a recent trip to Israel and as we toured around Jerusalem and visited all the significant historical sites, I was very much at home because it marked a very special high point in my life. I saw first hand many of the places mentioned in the Bible some of which we even had songs made out of it. This was a whole new experience because of the three dimension of the Word of God which I have believed from my childhood. Getting to see those places myself and running a comparative review with my own replicas in our humble hometown helped to strengthen my faith that this God is indeed who the scripture reveals to us.
Even as I write this piece now, it is so easy for me to relate with what the Great Apostle Peter said in his second epistle, the first chapter reading from the sixteenth verse to the nineteenth:
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.
I may not know what you may be facing today, the news that you have received before now that has troubled your heart but as you are reading this I prophesy to you now.
Fear not and let not your heart be shaken, The LORD Our God is dependable and worthy to be trusted. The LORD is round about us, the very way He used the mountains to surround Jerusalem therefore be rest assured no evil shall be able to overtake you. It doesn’t matter what the attack is; whatever direction it comes from, in whatever form or nature. I declare in the Name of JESUS, may the day star arise in your heart and the Glory of the Almighty overshadow you and your entire family today and forever. Receive your miracle for Our God is a God of miracles and He never fails those that put their trust in Him. Glory Hallelujah
